Dasmesh School Bazpur

Sri Dasmesh School was founded on July 31, 1981 as a result of the vision of S. Prakash Singh Badal, who desired “quality education on the most modern lines to be imparted to the boys and girls of the day”. Along with Mr. Badal were Mr. Harchand S. Brar, Mr. Daljit S. Rana, Mr. Mohinder Singh, Mr. Satwant Singh, Major General Tara S. Bal, Brigadier H.S. Dhillon, Brigadier Harbans Lal Talwar, Mr. Harkewal Singh and Mr. R.S. Randhawa as founders.
While the school is fully secular, it was named in honour of Guru Gobind Singh, tenth Guru of the Sikh religion and a great supporter of secular society. Within the Board of Trustee’s, aims and objectives it is noted, “No distinction of caste, creed or religion shall be made”

Infrastructure

Only through the Fauji Colony Collective Sehkari Kheti Samitti Ltd. donation of land, was it possible to create an extraordinary school campus. In the first instance 12.5 acres was contributed. Subsequently a second 12.5 acres and finally 10 acres was given, totalling 35 acres. Also of significance was the Board discussion surrounding the closure of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Public School in Bazpur. With the decision to move these students to the new Fauji Colony Campus and with the first building to be of 14 class rooms, the financial and educational direction was established. The building was ready after August 1982 and the first batch of students were subsequently transferred.
Academics –
The first year of operation involved 162 students and 14 staff members. Initially it was a primary school and with each subsequent year a new class was added. The first Principal appointed was Mr. S. Gurdev Singh.

1985-1990

Infrastructure –
Further development was undertaken with the building of the Science Labs in a new building adjacent to the classroom building.
Academics –
During this time the school applied for CBSE affiliation. By the end of 1990 the school had grown to 500 students and 25 faculty members.

1990-1995

Infrastructure –
Expansion continued with the construction of the second level academic block, thus allowing the student population to grow.
Academics –
Certification to Senior Secondary Level occurred through CBSE review. By 1995 the school was enrolling 550 students and had 30 staff members.

1995-2000
Infrastructure/ Academic

Infrastructure –
In preparation for major future construction only the teachers colony (comprising 3 cottages, 10 residences and a visitor’s cottage) was developed (50 Lacs) during this period. With a new vision of the Board, the exterior campus grounds were developed. 4000 poplar trees and 2000 teak trees were planted as a long term investment. A botanical emphasis with flowers, sculptured shrubs and grassed playing fields was developed. Tarmac roads were established. Underground watering systems were installed.
Academics –
Mr. P.S. Adhikari was appointed as principal on August 1, 1999. The new uniform for Senior Girls changed from skirts to Salwaar Kameez. During this period the Humanities and the Commerce streams were introduced. To assist our average students daily tutorial classes for were also added.
Inter school athletics were developed with Sri Dasmesh School participating successfully at Lucknow and later at the regional meet at Ghaziabad. We were proud to honour our own Miss Kamaljeet Kaur who represented us at India’s National Athletics Meet at Rai, Haryana.

2000-2005
Infrastructure/ Academic

Infrastructure –
During this five year period major growth occurred with the construction of the swimming pool (40 Lakh ) , library and administrative block (15 Lakh ) and a student canteen. The new Auditorium in 2003 (85 Lakh ) was the final major development in the school’s infrastructure.
Academics –
Building academic strength was also a major emphasis during this period of time. Initiatives included: focus on the Mathematics and Science courses, the introduction of computer courses, performance incentives for exceptional teaching dedication.

2005-2010
Infrastructure/ Academic

Infrastructure –
2007 has brought a 4 room extension to the classroom building. This addition will also include indoor bathroom facilities, an amenity appropriately desired for inclement weather. 2009 has brought a 4 room extension to the classroom building. This addition will help to reduce the strength of students in each classroom for better student teacher ratio. 2010 has brought Smart class technology in 13 classrooms of the school to give students the latest technology enabled education.The school library has been upgraded by more than 4000 new titles catering to the various tastes of students & teachers.
Academics –
As at this date 1350 students are enrolled and 50 teaching faculty are serving. While Sri Dasmesh School does not compare itself to elite private schools, for underprivileged students our CBSE 10th and 12th average scores are admirable

2010-2015

 Infrastructure –
During this five year period major growth occurred with the construction of the new self sufficient Primary School building , Bus parking adjacent to the school buildings and new approach road was the final major development in the school’s infrastructure. Year 2015 has also led to the change in the summer uniform for both primary as well as senior students.
Academics –
As at this date 1450 students are enrolled and around 55 teaching faculty are serving. While Sri Dasmesh School does not compare itself to the elite private schools, for underprivileged students our CBSE 10th and 12th average scores are admirable. Building academic strength was also a major emphasis during this period of time. Initiatives included: focus on the Mathematics and Science courses, the introduction of performance incentives for exceptional teaching dedication.

2015-2018
Infrastructure/ Academic

Infrastructure –
During this three year period major growth occurred with the installation of acoustics in Auditorium, construction of the new Amphitheatre, renovation of Senior school Building. 12 independent ultra modern flats for the teaching staff was the another major development in the school’s infrastructure. To improve safety and security of school students 125 high end CCTV cameras have been installed. 10 brand new school buses were purchased to provide safe and comfortable transport to the school students.
Academics –
As at this date 1750 students are enrolled and around 65 teaching faculty are serving. While Sri Dasmesh School does not compare itself to the elite private schools, for the underprivileged students of the rural area our CBSE 10th and 12th average scores are good and constantly improving. Building character and high moral values in students was also a major emphasis during this period of time. Initiatives included: focus on the Spoken English, Mathematics, Social Sciences and Science subjects.
